Hello! My name is Julie Smith. I created Character Clubs as a way to inspire character, confidence and connection in children. The spark came in 2007 with a simple request from my three children, then ages 4, 5 and 7. Their request? “Mom, can we start a club?”
Tapping into the “quintessential character” approach I had developed, my kids and I invited several neighborhood children over to put character-into-action through fun activities, games and service projects. It didn’t take long to see the impact these get-togethers had. Moms raved that kids were helping more, arguing less, and becoming more confident. Many commented this “club” was filled with “tomorrow’s leaders.” Soon my phone was ringing with parents asking how they could get their children into the “character club.” This enthusiasm from parents and children alike prompted me to form the official Character Clubs curriculum and program in 2009.
Today, the enthusiasm continues. Character Clubs truly is inspiring character, confidence and connection in thousands of children and families. I’m so happy to share the experience with you!
With gratitude,
